Draw quality blood samples from patients according to established procedures, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, accuracy, and documentation.
Verify patient demographic information, including initials and signatures, post-venipuncture to confirm specimen labeling accuracy.
Create a trusting environment by explaining procedures to patients and demonstrating professionalism and confidentiality.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to specimen collection and patient interactions.
Adhere to safety protocols, infection control standards, and organizational policies in a clinical environment.
Work independently and as part of a team across multiple locations, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy sites.
Participate in rotating weekend and holiday shifts, demonstrating flexibility to meet staffing needs.
Required Skills
Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
Ability to accurately enter data and maintain detailed documentation.
Attention to detail and a focus on error-free work in a high-volume setting.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license if applicable.
Additional Skills & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred, especially in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
Experience in a Patient Service Center environment is highly desirable.
Flexibility to work Monday through Saturday; available for overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Must demonstrate a commitment to patient care, confidentiality, safety, and organizational policies.
